Prayer & fasting with newfrontiers?

On Tuesday Scott & I travelled to Milton Keynes to gather with other leaders from newfrontier churches to pray & fast. I never look forward to the fasting bit but it's benefits are unquestionable - using hunger to seek God!

The time was hosted by Dave Devonish and the team he is gathering around him. If you aren't aware, newfrontiers in the UK is now served by 5 apostles (David being one of them). We are still exploring which apostolic sphere God is leading us to join and this day was part of that process...

It was strange to be at such an event and the name of 'newfrontiers' hardly mentioned; the talk now is all Catalyst network, the name given to David's new sphere. I understand this, but it is another reminder that the movement has shifted (which is a good thing albeit costly in relationships).
An unexpected benefit was the venue we were meeting in; a 24,000 sqft warehouse. Worshipping in it further fuelled my faith for our new home in Reading.

Hello Sean, i hope you're doing well.

I know i'm about as far out of the loop as possible, but could you speak to your third para a little bit more? Is NF now basically five different spheres lead by five different apostles?

in the UK yes! Terry has laid hands on 5 'sons' in the UK and we get to now figured out in God who we should relate to. For some churches this was easy, simply recognising what was already a relationship. For us it is more complex - we have mission history and connection with Dave D but our home counties region is relating to Guy Miller in Bournemouth.

new frontiers as we understood it is gone: no national team / prayer & fasting / conferences / finances etc. It's the right move but the pain is in the detail!

There's a sentence i never thought i'd hear! But, much better to do the brave/difficult thing than to not move forward for the sake of old ties. An extraordinarily brave thing to do.

How do the five sphere relate to each other? Do they even, given you've said there's no nation team etc?

We'll be praying you find the right network...

It's a new world... Catalyst or Commission eh. Hoping you guys figure out your home... I guess there will always be overlaps between spheres too.

The reality for is that I prefer one sphere above another simply because of where many of my friends are and we can all meet at Westpoint bible camp! Not a bad reason but I sense it needs to be fuller than that!

Newfrontiers as it was, is ceasing to exists. But I am hoping that once the independent spheres have established themselves the dialogue will turn to interdependence. Time will tell.
